"Kim" is my favourite Kipling novel.
The binding reflects the two worlds that Kim inhabits. The back cover shows the "red bull in a green field" that is the flag of his deceased father's Irish regiment and the front cover depicts the wheel of life that is the preoccupation of the elderly Tibetan Buddhist lama with whom he travels and who provides protective coloration for Kim as he spies on two Russian agents surveying the border between India and Russia. The spine and edges are goatskin and the sides are painted paper.

First, this is a GORGEOUS book. Second, I write up a blog that reads books one chapter at a time; we are currently working through KIM. I was very pleased to find this image while looking for a picture of the red bull's flag. Thank you for sharing this picture!
